Locust (Саранча 2014) – Storyline/Plot:
First erotic thriller In Russia. Story starts with a innocent summer affair began as a love story between two young people. Lera and Artem could not break it off, as well as they didn`t have enough of faith, patience and desire to overcome all the obstacles on their life path. The Locust Generation wants to have all at once. The Locust generation will sweep everything on its way. The affair began as a naive young love and passion will turn into a series of bloody assassinations.
Review of Locust (Саранча 2014 Film):
It is a romantic drama, psychological thriller, and contemplative narrative on love and lust. There has been no other love story held more sacred than the one belonging to star-crossed lovers. Love is a dangerous game. … one of the most-depressing-mini-series you’re-likely to-come-across … acting not-all-that-bad … production-qualities-fairly-good … yet-the-script doesn’t-have enough-sense or worthwhile-characters
It’s a tragic story of ill-fated lovers. Lera and Artem’s love is complicated and challenges that beset them threaten their love affair. But despite their problems, they profess undying love for each other.
The main characters are believable. You sympathize with Lera’s unenviable plight. Paulina Andreeva is credible in her portrayal of a girl so much in love but is thwarted by cruel circumstances. Pyotr Fyodorov is convincing in his role as an ambitious young man who doesn’t hesitate to use foul means in the name of love. The story’s ending is ironic.
This is a cautionary tale that true love doesn’t conquer all. More than romantic love, one has to have strong values to nourish true love and eschew situations that will destroy it.
Oleg Malovichko’s script deserves a chance to be heard.
